Engine Oil

Inspecting Engine Oil Level

1.
Park the vehicle on level surface and
apply the parking brake
2. Start the engine and let it idle until it
reaches operating temperature
3. Turn OFF the engine. Wait for 10
minutes, allow the oil to drain into
the oil pan
4. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean,
and reinsert it fully
5. Pull out the dipstick, if the oil level is
between Min and Max marks, the oil
level is acceptable, do not add oil.

6. If it is near or at Min add enough oil
to bring the level to Max. Do not
overfill. Refer "Recommended
lubricants and filling capacities"
section before adding engine oil.
CAUTION
• Don't add engine oil over Max
l e v e l . T h i s m a y c a u s e e n g i n e
damage.
• Do not operate the vehicle with the
engine oil level dipstick and/or the
engine oil filler cap removed.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
NOTICE
Engine oil viscosity, or thickness,
has an effect on fuel economy and
c o l d w e a t h e r o p e r a t i o n . L o w
viscosity engine oils can provide
improved fuel economy and cold
weather performance. But high
temperature weather conditions
require higher viscosity engine oils
for satisfactory lubrication.
