4. Adjust:
9 Idling speed
Adjustment steps:
8 Turn the throttle stop screw 2 in di-
rection c or d until the specified
idling speed is attained.
Turning in c c ® Idling speed increases.
Turning out d d ® Idling speed decreases.

Start-in-gear protection adjustment

1. Check:
9 Start-in-gear protection operation
Incorrect ® Adjust.
2. Adjust:
9 Start-in-gear protection wire
Adjustment steps:
8 Set the shift lever in neutral.
8 Loosen the locknut 1 or 2.
8 Adjust the start-in-gear protection
wire adjuster 3 so that the marking
of lever 4 can align with the marking
a of the starter case.
8 Tighten the locknut 2 or 1.
POWER UNIT

Engine oil level

NOTE:
9 Run the engine for several minutes, turn
it off, and check the engine oil level.
9 When checking, hold the outboard motor
in the upright position and screw in the
oil level plug.
