Installing Windows 64-bit Compatible Drivers
This section describes how to install the PCL and PostScript 3 printer drivers that are compatible with 64-
bit Windows operating systems.
• Manage Printers permission is required for driver installation. Log on as an Administrators group
member.
• If you want to use the WSD port, see p.18 "Using the WSD Port" and install the printer driver using
the procedure shown.
• If the printer is connected to your computer via USB, see p.35 "Installing the Printer Driver Using
USB" and install the printer driver using the procedure shown.
• The PostScript 3 printer driver for a 64-bit Windows operating system can be installed using the
installer. Launch the dedicated .exe file included on the provided CD-ROM, and then follow the
instructions that appear on the screen. If the CD-ROM drive is D, the .exe file will be stored in the
following location: D:\DRIVERS\PS\x64\MUI or (language)\SETUP.EXE
Windows XP, Windows Server 2003/2003 R2
Use the following procedure to install the PCL/PostScript 3 driver under the 64-bit version of Windows XP
or Windows Server 2003/2003 R2.
1.
On the [Start] menu, click [Printers and Faxes].

Click [Add a printer], or double-click the [Add Printer] icon.

Follow the instructions that appear in the "Add Printer" wizard.
If the printer driver is on the CD-ROM, the location of the driver will be \DRIVERS\(PCL6, PCL5C,
PCL5E, or PS)\x64\(language) or MUI\DISK1. If the installer starts automatically, click [Cancel] to
stop it.

Specify a port.
• Availability of ports will vary depending on your operating system and the type of interface you are
using for connection to the printer. For details, see p.9 "Network Connection" or p.35 "Local
Connection".
