Maintaining and Troubleshooting Your E-4200 System
The IDE drive is not recognized by the system.
Probable Cause
The primary IDE
device may be config-
ured incorrectly.
The drive may not be
configured properly.
The drive cables are
not connected prop-
erly.
The drive controller is
not seated properly.

Memory/Processor problems

Memory errors were detected during system start up.
Probable Cause
Memory was added or
removed, and the new
configuration was not
saved in BIOS Setup.
The memory was
installed incorrectly.
A memory chip is
faulty.
Solution
Restart your computer, and then press
enter the setup program. From the Main
menu, set the Primary IDE Master to Auto Con-
figured.
Consult the hard disk user's guide for
instructions on how to configure the drive.
Open the system and check all cables con-
nected to the controller card.
Open the system and reseat the drive con-
troller.
Solution
Enter BIOS Setup and save the new mem-
ory configuration.
Check the memory for proper seating and
orientation.
Replace the card on which the faulty chip
resides. Third-party diagnostic programs
can help determine which chip or memory
segment is failing.
