Opening Databases Created in Other Programs
As mentioned above, several file formats created by other programs can be imported into
DesignPro. DesignPro supports current database systems with the ODBC standard. To import
various database formats, the ODBC drivers must be installed. For additional information,
refer to the DesignPro Help file.
To illustrate the procedure, we will show you how to link a Microsoft
project.
A project must be open and the Master tab must be active or the database tools will not be
1.
available.
Select Database > Open to import data from an existing database. The Open Database
2.
dialog box appears.
Select Open an External Database via ODBC. The Select Data Source dialog box
3.
appears.
Select the Machine Data Source tab. A list with the data source names (DSN) appears
4.
depending on the ODBC drivers installed.
Select the data source that is desired and click OK.
5.
A dialog box will appear to select a file. If the database file contains several tables/files, a
6.
prompt will appear to select the required table. When finished with your selections, the
database is linked to your project. For additional information, refer to the Merging Infor-
mation onto Your Avery Product in this section.
