The act of overwriting a 9840 legacy data cartridge by a newer generation drive. For
example, a cartridge written by a T9840A drive can be overwritten (reclaimed) by
either a T9840C or T9840D drive while a cartridge written by a T9840C drive can be
reclaimed by a T9840D drive.
