WARNING
Release the clutch lever smoothly, or
you may stall the engine or cause the
vehicle to jerk forwards.
Open the throttle slowly and gradually
when releasing the clutch lever. Abrupt
acceleration will cause the clutch to slip
(if released slowly) or will lead to a

Slowly release the clutch lever (3) while

Downshifting is normally required in the
following conditions:
When riding downhill or when braking, in
order to use engine braking for improved
braking efficiency.
When riding uphill, if the gear engaged is
too high for your speed and the engine
rpm decreases.
CAUTION
When shifting down, always select the
next lower gear or you will cause the
engine to race (exceed maximum rpm).
Before and during the downshifting,
release the throttle grip and decelerate,
in order to avoid racing the engine.
