4.7 Changing needle

CAUTION
Risk of injury from needle and moving parts
Only change the needle with the sewing machine
switched off.

(1) – Groove
(2) – Screw
1. Loosen the screw (2) and remove the needle.
2. Insert the new needle into the hole in the needle bar (3) as far
as it will go, taking care to ensure that the groove in the
needle (1) faces the hook tip.
3. Tighten the screw (2).
4. Always adjust the clearance between the hook and the needle
after changing to a different needle thickness (see  Service
manual).
Otherwise the following errors can occur:
• Changing to a thinner needle:
Missing stitches, thread damage
• Changing to a thicker needle: Damage to the hook tip,
damage to the needle
