For having portrait-format
still pictures rotated
automatically.

[Version Disp.]

For checking the camera
firmware version or
displaying the software
information.

[Format]

Use when [Built-In
Memory Error] or
[Memory Card Error]
appears, or when
formatting the built-in
memory or card.
When a card/the built-in
memory is formatted,
the data cannot be
restored. Check the
content of the card/
the built-in memory
carefully before
formatting.
: Rotates and displays pictures taken in portrait
format when displayed on a TV screen or on the
monitor of the camera.
:
Rotates and displays only pictures displayed on a
TV screen.
[OFF]
• [Rotate Disp.] cannot be used with motion pictures.
• Still pictures taken with the camera facing up or down, or
those taken on other cameras may not be rotated.
• Pictures cannot be rotated during Multi Playback.
• Pictures will only be displayed rotated on a computer if in
Exif-compatible (→42) environment (OS, software).
The current version is displayed.
• When you press [MENU/SET] while the version is
displayed, software information such as the license is
displayed.
• This requires a sufficiently charged battery. When
formatting the built-in memory, remove the card.
(Only the card will be formatted if inserted; if not, only the
built-in memory will be formatted.)
• Always format the cards that are to be used in this
camera with this camera.
• All data including protected pictures and copied map
data will be deleted.
• Do not turn off power or perform other operations during
formatting.
• Formatting the built-in memory may take several
minutes.
• Consult your Leica dealer or the nearest Leica Customer
Care center if formatting cannot be successfully
completed.
