Other Troubleshooting (including Failover)
Diagnosis/Possible Resolution
Check provisioning to ensure there is no dial
plan problem.
Examine gateway provisioning to ensure that
the trunk is active.
Primary and secondary need compatible dial
plans.
Dependent on your configuration:
Centralized trunking - no incoming calls
Decentralized trunking - it may be possible to
receive incoming calls in this configuration.
All phones are probably in failover.
Check configuration.
Check registrations on gateways:
Wait; are you past the detection period?
UDP is longer; waiting on registration
refresh or failed outgoing call.
Are there any active calls?
If all else fails, reboot.
Perform a "ping" to determine routing.
Is the home office in failover? Does the user
have an account on the second controller?
Check the various configuration sources and
priorities and review policies.
Several options:
1. Two Craft (local admin) menu options
VIEW (current/active configuration) and SIP
(configuration checklist; icons indicate state.
Ping in ADDR or via Avaya Menu's Network
Information option.
2. SNMP query config and view, but does not
provide as much information as SIP Craft
procedure.
3. Wireshark, TCP, UDP only.
4. View registration status on servers.
5. Watch for double registration with different
transport types.
Syslog enable on phone and capture with
Wireshark or Syslog server.
Must not be rejected by any server. Must
successfully register with at least one server.
