Introduction

The MagniCoder Premier MCP-601 is a DVI/VGA-to-video scan converter with overlay and mixed
effects. It lets you transform a personal computer into a professional video production system.
Complete with special effects, graphics, and animation, you can create professional looking video-
production sales proposals, cable and satellite programming, personnel training, and documentaries.
The MCP-601 supports:
High quality conversion of DVI and VGA graphic displays to SDI 601 and Composite NTSC/PAL,
or Y, R-Y, B-Y component analog video
Full digital-to-digital signal path genlock with overlay scan converter
Genlock allows synchronizing, mixing and overlaying DVI/VGA with SDI-601 and analog video
Key modes of both video over graphics and graphics over video
SDI 601 and analog key outputs for downstream keying
Full field alpha key, chroma key and transparent key functions
Automatic recognition and lock to standard display resolutions from 640x480 and up to
1600x1280. Special user modes of 720x480 (NTSC) and 720x576 (PAL) resolutions for optimum
pixel-to-pixel conversion.
Video squeeze mode enables a live video input, sized to 25%, 56% or any adjustable size from 5 %
to 100%, to be combined with graphics input.
Pan and zoom enables a MagniPort
optimum viewing impact in the output video
Independent sizing and positioning of graphics and video windows with the IR remote controller or
with the Magni Premier software.
Broadcast video and underscan video output modes for broadcast or multimedia applications
Plug & Play setup with IR controller. Magni Premier application software, USB and RS-232
compatible for additional flexibility
Built-in flicker stabilizer circuit minimizes the flicker associated with converting non-interlaced
VGA signals to an interlaced television format.
Control of keying, fading, and mixing between VGA graphics and video.
IR remote controller, external FX-1 controller, Windows application software and custom control
software.
The MCP-601 encodes computer generated DVI displays directly to SDI-601, provides the highest quality
video output currently available. The MCP-601 also combines DVI/VGA scan conversion capability with
genlock and PC graphics overlay onto an incoming SDI 601 or analog (YUV, S-Video, or Composite) signal
for applications such as titling, logo insertions, and adding computer-generated data to video. For flexibility
and ease of use, the system allows keying, sizing and positioning to be done with the supplied F/X controller,
IR remote controller, or Magni Premier application software. The application software provides a series of
window screens that enables easy selection of size and location of the video and graphics keying.
