IR remote controller, external FX-1 controller, Windows application software and custom control software. The MCP-601 encodes computer generated DVI displays directly to SDI-601, provides the highest quality video output currently available. The MCP-601 also combines DVI/VGA scan conversion capability with genlock and PC graphics overlay onto an incoming SDI 601 or analog (YUV, S-Video, or Composite) signal for applications such as titling, logo insertions, and adding computer-generated data to video.
  • Page 12 MCP-601and used to key the VGA display onto the video. The MCP-601 can be controlled by a hand-held IR remote controller, the Magni Premier application software through the RS-232 or USB ports, and the FX-1 controller unit. Resident software is not required on the computer to operate the unit.

MCP-601 Operator’s Manual Product Models MCP-601 Series come in three models. Each model comes in a configuration to suit a particular facility. MCP-601 has digital SDI-601 as well as analog Composite and Component video inputs and outputs. It is intended for digital/analog facilities and for those customers migrating to digital format.

Genlock allows synchronizing, mixing and overlaying DVI/VGA with SDI-601 and analog video Industry-proven genlock technology performs exceptionally well even with consumer-grade cameras and VCRs. The MCP-601’s genlock maintains low jitter when used with studio sources. Genlock to Reference Input or Internal Clock for scan conversion applications.

A key color can be selected and compared to either the graphics or the video incoming signal. Whenever there is a color match, the mixer switches to output the other signal. This can be done in the MCP-601 internal mixer or through an external keyer, typically into an analog switcher with an external key input. For a digital switcher, the digital key signal from the MCP-601 is treated as another digital input signal.

As long as there is no change in frequency no additional action is taken. When there is a change in sync frequency, the MCP-601 will react differently depending on whether the DVI or VGA input is selected. DVI input is the more precise since the signal contains all the needed data in the signal to determine the width, height and pixel clock of the image.

The MCP-601 also has a MagniPort feature which is similar to Pan and Zoom that allows the user to define the area of the DVI / VGA display to be converted to video. The best resolution can be achieved through pixel-to-pixel encoding, that is by converting a 720 X 576 DVI / VGA display window to video in 625/50 PAL and a 720X480 display window to video in 525/60 NTSC.
