AUTO Position Recognition
Function
When you start the engine with the wiper
switch "AUTO" position, the wiper will op-
erate once to remind you that the wiper
switch is in "AUTO" position.
CAUTION
• Auto position recognition, especially in winter, may reduce the life
span of the wiper blade. Make sure the wiper switch is at "OFF"
position unless it rains.
• During winter time, the wiper blade can be frozen to windshield.
Wiper operation while blade is frozen can damage wiper motor.
Be sure to check the blade before operation.

3. AUTO
Operates automatically ac-
cording to the vehicle speed or
amount of rain.
Rain Sensing Wiper
This sensor detects the amount of rain while
the wiper switch is in "AUTO" position. If the
rains become heavier, the speed of the wip-
ers gets faster and smaller, the speed
reduces.
CAUTION
• The wiper operation on dry wind- shield can scratch glass and
wear the blade prematurely. Do not operate wiper when the wind-
shield is dry.
• When you clean the windshield over the sensor with damp cloth,
the wiper may operate suddenly. It could cause serious injury. Make
sure to place the wiper switch and ignition switch to "OFF" posi-
tion when not in use.
• Make sure to place the wiper switch to "OFF" position before wash-
ing the vehicle.
4. LO/HI
LO: Continuous wipe, slow operation
HI: Continuous wipe, fast operation
5. Wiper and Washer
Coupled Operation
Pull the lever briefly (below 0.6 seconds):
One wiping cycle without washer spray
Pull and hold the lever for more than
0.6 seconds: Three wiping cycles with
washer spray
6. Automatic Wiping Speed
Control Switch
The interval of wiper swings can be ad-
justed by twisting the control knob up-
ward or downward when the windshield
wiper switch is in AUTO position.
F : Fast interval
S : Slow interval
