The "Found New Hardware" help message
appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
This message will close when the settings are
completed. No action is required.

The following window appears. Select
"Automatically Install Software" (normally, this
item is already selected) and click the [Next>]
button. The wizard starts.

At the end of installation, the "Completing the
Found New Hardware Wizard" window appears.
Click the [Finish] button.
This places the printer into the available state.
DISCONNECTING THE PRINTER
Use the following procedure to disconnect the printer from the PC.

Check that the printer is not operating.

Turn the printer power off.

Unplug the USB cable from the printer.

CONNECTING THE PRINTER AS A CARD READER
A Mass Storage Driver is installed when "FinePixViewer" is installed. Check that the printer is
connected as a card reader and the USB Mass Storage Driver was installed correctly.
Note
• When using the printer as a card reader, do not touch the [EJECT] button while the [BUSY] lamp is blinking.
The Windows CD-ROM may also be required in some cases. Have the CD-ROM ready
beforehand. If no Windows CD-ROM was supplied with your PC, consult the Owner's
Manual for the PC or contact the PC manufacturer.

Set the printer [USB MODE] switch to [CARD READER] and turn the power off.

Connect the printer to the PC using a USB cable.

Turn the printer power on.

Load a photographed memory card into the printer.
Note
• Do not format the memory card on a PC as this may make the card unusable for taking pictures.

From this point onwards the procedure differs depending on your operating system.

Windows 98/98 SE/Me

The "New Hardware Found" wizard appears. The wizard will close when the settings are
completed. No action is required.

FinePixViewer automatically starts up and the pictures on the memory card are
displayed. A new removable disk icon also appears in the "My Computer" window.
Note
• If FinePixViewer does not start up and the removable disk icon does not appear, the software was not installed
correctly. Disconnect the printer, restart your PC and reinstall the software. If this does not resolve the problem,
refer to the Troubleshooting section.
T I P
• The Exif Launcher installed
with the FinePixViewer
automatically launches
FinePixViewer when the
printer is connected to the PC.
