17.4.2 SAN zoning

Zoning allows you to partition your SAN into logical groupings of devices that can
access each other. Using zoning, you can arrange fabric-connected devices into
logical groups, or zones, over the physical configuration of the fabric. Zones can
vary in size depending on the number of fabric-connected devices. Figure 17-3
on page 572 shows the zoning for our server-free backup.
