2.3 Removing a Rack from a Pallet
When you finish verifying the contents of the shipment, you can remove the rack from its pallet.
Warning!
Serious personal injury or equipment damage might result if correct safety precautions are not
taken during the unpacking procedure. Three people are required to unload the rack from the
shipping pallet. All personnel must wear safety glasses and gloves. Handling wooden parts such
as the ramp can cause splinters.
If any of the following defects exist, do not use the ramp. Investigate alternative means of
removing the rack, or order a new ramp.
Inspect ramps, ramp side rails, and metal hardware for the following defects:
•
Cracks more than 25 percent of the ramp depth, either across or lengthwise on the ramp.
•
Knots or knotholes going through the thickness of the ramp and greater than 50 percent of
the ramp width.
•
Loose, missing, or broken ramp side rails.
•
Loose, missing, or broken block on the bottom side of the unloading ramps.
•
Loose, missing, or bent metal hardware.
