As part of your site planning and preparation, walk the delivery route and note any potential
problems. Any changes that require physical modification to walls and doors must be scheduled
into your delivery and installation plan. Consider the following items:
•
The dock door at the receiving site must accommodate the height and width of the racks
when they are packed and installed on the shock pallet.
•
The floor must be strong enough to take the combined dynamic load of the trucking device
and the rack.
•
Using the pallet footprint information in
in all corridors and at all doorways. (You might need to consider temporary removal of
doors.) Consider the required turn radius for the pallet at any 90-degree turns.
•
Verify that any elevators along the route are certified for the rack.
•
Plan for the possible need to remove (or temporarily relocate) any existing equipment that
might block the route. This might include existing systems in the computer room.
•
The safe relocation and unpacking of the rack requires three or more people. Ensure that
you schedule available personnel to assist in delivery and unpacking. Such personnel must
be suitably trained in lifting techniques and equipped with appropriate safety equipment
and protective clothing.
