10. Appendix
When using SmartDeviceMonitor for Admin or another application to make various settings, you can
encrypt the data transmitted. By making this setting, you can protect data from being tampered with. Specify
the SNMPv3 encrypted communication mode using Web Image Monitor.
1.
Log on to Web Image Monitor in the administrator mode.
2.
Click [Configuration].
3.
Click [Network Security] in "Security".
4.
Click [Encryption Only] in the [Permit SNMPv3 Communication] area in the [SNMPv3] area,
and then click [OK].
5.
Quit Web Image Monitor.
• To use SmartDeviceMonitor for Admin for encrypting the data for specifying settings, you need to
specify the administrator's [Encryption Password] setting and [Encryption Key] in [SNMP
Authentication Information] in SmartDeviceMonitor for Admin, in addition to specifying [Permit
SNMPv3 Communication] on the printer.
• If administrator's [Encryption Password] setting is not specified, the data for transmission may not be
encrypted or sent.
• For details about specifying [Encryption Key] in SmartDeviceMonitor for Admin, see the
SmartDeviceMonitor for Admin Help.
