To View the Geocaches Page
To open the Geocaches Page and view geocaches you have added to your Earthmate PN-40, press
MENU, highlight Geocaches, and press ENTER. If you have added the Geocaches Page to the
PAGE button sequence, it is no longer available on menus. Press the PAGE button until the page
appears. For a list of geocache symbols, see Appendix C on page 87.
From the Geocaches Page, press MENU to view or change the way the geocaches are sorted and
displayed.
• Sort by Distance—This is the default setting. Sorts the list by the distance from your GPS
location (or cursor location when panning the map). When you are sorting by distance, if you
have a large number of geocaches a progress bar displays; press the ENTER button at any time
to stop the search. Show Not Found shows the geocaches you have not marked as found.
OR
Sort by Name—Sorts the list in alphabetical order.
AND
• Show Not Logged—This is the default setting. Shows the geocaches you have not yet logged.
OR
Show Logged—Shows the geocaches you have logged. This includes Found It!, Didn't Find It,
Write Note, or Needs Maintenance statuses.
To change the sorting method or display option, press MENU. The available option is preceded by
"Switch to." Highlight the option you want and press ENTER.
The Bearing and Distance info fields at the bottom of the screen show the direction and distance
from your current GPS location to the geocache. As you scroll through the list, you see this informa-
tion for each geocache.
Note that geocaches transferred to the Earthmate PN-40 using the DeLorme Send to GPS plugin
use symbols from Geocaching.com, while, at the current time, geocaches transferred from a DeLo-
rme mapping program use the PN-Series closed treasure chest geocache symbol.
To View/Center a Geocache on the Map
Find the geocache you want to view or center on the map using the Geocache Page or Find search
(see To Find a Geocache on page 38).
The Geocaches Page
Note: You can also select a
geocache by panning to it on
the map and pressing ENTER.
