Chapter 9

Install the Access Service Utility

1. Start the Banyan VINES server and insert the "NetRAID Utilities for
Banyan VINES" diskette into drive A:.
2. At the command prompt, type installpkg
3. At the prompt, enter the NetRAID server password and press Enter.
Passwords are case-sensitive.
4. Confirm the password.
5. At the prompt, enter the IP address for the registration server and press
Enter.
6. At the prompt, enter the TCP/IP node name of the Banyan VINES server.
This is the server name that HP NetRAID Assistant will use to identify the
server. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
7. After the installation is complete, open your /.profile file.
8. Find the last line of the /.profile file. This line should contain
exec bin/bmenu
9. Just before the last line, insert a new line as follows:
/disk1/banyan/util/megaserv&
10. Save the changes to the /.profile file.
11. Reboot the server.
12. After the server comes up, type ps -ef
This lets you confirm that megaserv is running in the background.

Install the HP NetRAID Assistant and Registration Server Utilities

1. Start the Windows NT server (or Windows 95 client).
2. At the NT DOS prompt, try to ping the IP address of the Banyan VINES
server to test the connection.
3. Insert the NetRAID Assistant for Windows NT and Windows 95 disk into
drive A.
4. Select Start from the taskbar, then choose Run from the Start menu. (Or,
if you have Windows NT 3.51, select File/Run from the Program
Manager.)
