Scan to E-mail: Contrast
Contrast
Using the Contrast controls can make detail appear by increasing the
contrast between adjacent gray levels. It adjusts the tonal range of
an image.
• For decreased contrast in an image — that is, duller whites and
grayer blacks — use a lower number Contrast setting.
• For increased contrast in an image — that is, brighter whites and
darker blacks — use a higher number Contrast setting.
Remember that the controls adjust the relative contrast of the

entire image.

Compression Level
Compression algorithms are designed to reduce the size of an image
file without noticeably degrading the image when it is displayed. The
CX3641 lets you set a compression level for digital files:
• The higher the number, the more the file is compressed. The more
the file is compressed, the smaller the file size.
• The lower the number, the less the file is compressed. The less
the file is compressed, the larger the file size.
In SendMe, select a compression "quality" instead of a level:
NOTE:
Low, Medium, High, or Maximum. In Scan to E-mail and Scan,
"10" provides the most compression and smallest file size;
"OFF" means the file will not be compressed.
Note that at some point a too-low compression setting can
compromise the quality of images in your digital file — there may be
loss of detail. If you select a higher number and see that images don't
look right, select a lower compression level and re-scan your original.
