APPENDIX A
[xxxx] – vendor description
(tab)xxxx – chipset description
In the fi rst line [xxxx] is the last digits of the VendorId surrounded by square brackets and vendor description is
any text that helps you remember the vendor. In the second line, (tab) means press the tab key once, xxxx is the last
digits of the DeviceId and chipset description is any text that helps you remember the entry–Atmosphere ignores the
description text. Save the fi le and relaunch Atmosphere.
If Atmosphere still doesn't recognize your chipset, check to make sure that you made the entries correctly, saved
the fi le and relaunched Atmosphere. If all is correct, then it may be that your chipset, even though listed in the
AtmoHWConfi g.txt fi le, is not supported by Atmosphere. This may occur because Atmosphere interrogates the
chipset to fi nd out if it supports certain minimum capabilities. If it fi nds that it does not, it will automatically switch
back to software rendering mode.
Please be aware that Adobe has tested Atmosphere against only the chipsets explicitly listed (and not commented
out) in the AtmoHWConfi g.txt fi le that came with the Player installation. If you choose to add an untested chipset,
you may experience problems running the Player, crashes, or bad looking results. You may also fi nd that hardware
rendering is slower than software rendering in certain cases. As Adobe tests more chipsets, it will add them to
subsequent versions of the released Player.
