CHAPTER 9
Groups appear in the Object Hierarchy palette as either a folder or a folder with its child objects visible. Clicking the arrow
icon by the folder expands or collapses the hierarchy at that point.
Another way to create a group is by using the Object > New Group menu command. This command will create a new
group in the Object Hierarchy palette. The new group will have no items. You can add objects to a group by dragging
and dropping them on the group in the Object Hierarchy palette.
Drag and Drop Grouping
In the Object Hierarchy palette, you can move objects between groups by dragging them from one group to another
The object's relative position to the origin of the group will remain the same in wireframe view, but it will henceforth
move as part of its new group.
Making Groups Active
Selecting the Object > Activate Group menu command makes the currently selected group active, so that all new
objects that are created will be placed in this group. The active group will be shown in bold in the Object Hierarchy
palette.
Group options
Like Solid Objects, Groups of objects can be made subtractive in the Inspector palette. Groups have the additional
option to form the Boolean Intersection of the grouped objects.
