Removing or Installing a Drive Carrier

Planning Your Drive Carrier Configuration

Important: When planning your system configuration, remember that all enclosure drive bays must be
filled with either a filled or empty drive carrier; no bays should be left completely empty.
Important: Before you begin installation you should become familiar with the configuration
requirements of your Intel® Storage System SSR212CC. Refer to
Installation" on page 11

Removing a Drive Carrier

Caution: Before performing any maintenance on the system, back up the data. Follow the
instructions in the operating system manual for shutting down the system.
Caution: Damage can occur to a drive if a drive is removed while still spinning. If possible, use the
storage system console software to spin down and power down the drive prior to removal.
If this is not possible, wait 30 seconds after releasing the drive carrier from the chassis to
ensure the drive has spun down prior to removal.

turn.

3. Release the drive carrier from the drive bay by pressing the latch in the handle
