4.2.3 Remove the Clamper Assembly
There are two clamper assemblies inside the DRM-5004X: one for the
upper drive bays and one for the lower drive bays. To install or
remove a drive unit, the corresponding clamper must be removed. In
this example, only remove the lower assembly. See Figure 4-9,
Clamper Assembly Details.
Here are the steps to follow:
1. Power OFF the unit. Disconnect power cord from power
source.
2. Open the front door of the unit.
3. Confirm that the disc transporter has been raised out of the
way. If it has not been moved out of the way, refer to Section
4.2.2.
4. Confirm that there is no disc in the clamper. If there is a disc
in the clamper and it is not clamped, you can slide it out by
hand. If the disc cannot be removed, rotate the large black
gear in the center to unclamp it. The gear can be rotated in
either direction. After the disc is raised in an unclamped
position, it can be removed by hand.
5. Disconnect the white connector in the center of the clamper
assembly.
6. Use a magnetic screwdriver and remove two side screws on
the clamper assembly.
7. Use a magnetic screwdriver and remove a third screw at the
center of the clamper. This screw is located inside the center
of the clamper.
CAUTION: Do not drop the center screw into the drive or drive
bays below. If the screw does drop remove all drives until you
find it. DO NOT leave the loose screw in the unit. Remove the
center screw by keeping the magnetic screw driver on it while
sliding the entire clamper assembly out the front of the unit.
NOTE: Set screws aside so they are available for re-installing
the clamper assembly later.
