Setting the SCSI Identification
SCSI IDs for the drives installed into the DRM-5004X must be set using
the SCSI ID switches on the connection board located on the middle rear
panel. The SCSI IDs can also be entered into the memory of the
DRM-5004X for access by software, by using the Mode Setting buttons
on the inside front right rail. After the SCSI IDs are entered into the
memory of the unit using the Mode Setting Buttons, they can be accessed
3
by application software. This section describes how to set the SCSI IDs
using the DIP switches and the Mode Setting Buttons.
3.8.1 Setting SCSI IDs using the DIP switches
The Pioneer DRM-5004X CD-ROM Jukebox has five SCSI ID switches on
the rear connection board. The first four switches set the SCSI IDs
assigned to the individual CD-ROM drives installed in the unit and the
last switch sets the SCSI ID assigned to the changer mechanism con-
troller. See Figure 3-12, SCSI ID Switch Settings.
Figure 3-13, Front View of Disc Addresses for SCSI Commands,
provides an inside front view of the DRM-5004X showing the location
of the disc storage addresses and a maximum of four drive units.
NOTE: The DRM-5004X typically includes Drives 1 and 2 installed.
Drives 3 and 4 are optional additions. When only two drives are
installed, the SCSI ID settings for drives 3 and 4 are not significant and
are not acknowledged by the system.
See Figure 3-14, Lower Rear Section of DRM-5004X Showing SCSI
Cabling.
