C. Set Termination on the Reader
Termination on the reader is set to OFF at shipping. When drives are
daisy chained inside the unit, termination is provided by the host
computer SCSI adapter card and by the accessory SCSI termination
block placed on SCSI Connector B on the back of the drive.
Termination should only be turned on if the drive is installed on its
own separate SCSI bus.
NOTE: Termination can be changed after the drive is installed into
the DRM-5004X by accessing the small DIP Switches on the front
right side of the drive.
CAUTION: Always power-off the DRM-5004X before changing the
termination setting, or you may blow a fuse.
NOTE: If the terminator fuse inside the unit is blown by connecting
or removing the terminator block or a SCSI cable while the power to
the unit is on, the last drive on the chain can be terminated to provide
termination temporarily. To replace fuse, call Service. See Appendix
E, Pioneer Technical Resource Numbers.
Refer to Figure 4-6, Front View of DR-D504X reader:
1. Power Off the unit before changing termination setting.
2. Termination is OFF when both switches are UP, as they are when
shipped from the factory.
3. To turn termination ON, locate the DIP switches on the front of
the reader, when one or both of the switches are DOWN, termi-
nation is on.
After termination has been properly set, you are ready to proceed with
installing the reader into the DRM-5004X.
