Troubleshooting
7.3 If the Computer cannot Communicate with Drives
1) Check SCSI ID numbers on the back of the unit for each drive and
make sure they match the numbers declared in software drivers.
2) Power-OFF the unit and the computer and make sure that SCSI
cables are connected securely. Power-ON the unit.
3) Make sure that the SCSI bus is terminated properly.
4) Inspect the green LED inside the two circuit boards of the reader
or writer drive units. Look squarely into the drives to see the green
LED at the back. In a basic configuration, with two drives installed,
you will see two green LEDs at the back of the drives when you are
down at eye level. If three or four drives are installed you must move
the disc transporter up to look into the back of the drives in the lower
bays to see the green LEDs. To raise the disc transporter, see Chapter 4,
Custom Configuration, Section 4.2.2 Raise the Disc Transporter.
If you do not see the green LED on any individual drive, the power
7
supply for the drive may have broken or there may be a failed connec-
tion. Call Service.
5) If hardware checks out, consult with the Pspecific software vendor
to make sure the driver software is loaded properly. If an ASPI com-
patible SCSI interface card is used, make sure the ASPI Manager
loads first.
