Multifeed errors occur frequently.

Does the document satisfy the requirements
described in Precautions in
"Paper Quality" (page
42)?

With the Multifeed Detection set to ON, do the
settings configured satisfy the requirements to
detect multifeeds correctly?
YES
Did you scan very thick media such as a plastic
card?
NO
Did you fan the document before loading it on the
scanner?
YES
Has the document just been printed out on a
copier or laser printer?
NO
Is the document stack less than 20 mm (0.79 in.)
thick (10 mm (0.39 in.) when the document size is
larger than A4/Letter)?
YES
Are all the consumables (*1) installed correctly?
YES
Is any of the consumables (*1) dirty?
NO
Use the document that satisfies the requirements.

Configure the settings for detecting multifeeds correctly.
