It is mandatory to install next protections upstream the Charge Point.
MCCB:
The installation of a circuit breaker is required to protect the equipment from
overcurrents and to allow load disconnection. This element shall be a 400 A three-pole
moulded case circuit breaker for each power unit.
Example: Legrand DPX³ 630 MT 3P 400A circuit breaker.
Residual current relay:
Type B differential protection is required in the installation in order to protect the
equipment. As the chargers have a high current, it is better to opt for protection relays
and type B differential transformer toroids rather than circuit breakers.
These relays can also activate a relay output which activates the coil of the circuit
breaker.
Example: RGU-10B relay and WGB residual current transformer.
Overvoltage protection:
The installation company shall provide a suitable overvoltage protection device to
reduce the overvoltage category to category II.
