Error Messages

Any of the following messages appearing on the 4-character message display indicate that an error has occurred. Refer to
the information listed below in combination with the "Troubleshooting" section on next page.

Meaning
Fatal hardware error.
Internal data error.
Low backup battery.
Internal communication error.
MIDI transmit/receive error.
Cascade connection error.
Memory card access error.
You attempted to store to a protected
scene.
You attempted to recall a NO DATA
scene.
You attempted to insert a scene when
scene number 999 exists.
There is a space in the name of the file you
attempted to save.
Action
The system cannot be started. Contact your Yamaha dealer or service
center.
There is a problem with the internal data, but the system can be
started by pressing the [ENTER] key. Save all (ALL) data to a
memory card and contact your Yamaha dealer or service center.
If the battery voltage drops any further all data saved in the internal
memory will be lost. Contact your Yamaha dealer or service center as
soon as possible.
Contact your Yamaha dealer or service center.
Make sure that all external MIDI equipment is properly connected.
This error can also be caused by attempting to send a large amount of
data to the PM5000 at once.
Check that both of the cascaded consoles are connected properly, that
the correct cascade cable is being used, and that the [MASTER/
SLAVE] switch settings have been made properly.
Check that the memory card has been properly inserted into the
console's card slot, that the card has sufficient remaining capacity,
and that it is properly formatted.
Use the utility mode to turn memory protection off. If the entire
memory is protected use the MEMORY PROTECT function. If a
specific scene memory is protected use the SCENE EDIT function
(page 62).
If the left dot on the scene display is lit, that scene is empty and
cannot be recalled. Make sure scene data is stored in the scene
number to be recalled.
Move or delete the data in scene number 999.
Save the file after deleting the space.
