4-18 Setting up Network Servers
•
Make sure your DocuColor 40 CP name and address are listed in a domain name ser-
vices (DNS) or hosts name database used by your system.
•
Make sure your system host table includes the correct internal name for the
DocuColor 40 CP as a remote printer. See page 4-26 for more information.
•
For Windows NT 4.0, install the DocuColor 40 CP PostScript printer description on the
Windows NT 4.0 server (see Getting Started).
The Windows NT 4.0 PostScript printer driver is automatically installed with
Windows NT 4.0. The DocuColor 40 CP PostScript printer description is provided
on the User Software CD.

Repeat the installation for everyone who prints to the DocuColor 40 CP.
Each server and workstation running the DocuColor utilities with TCP/IP also needs
the TCP/IP protocol and the utility software.
The Installer installs a blank configuration (Efinl.ini) file. When you run a utility for
the first time, you enter information that is used to automatically configure the
Efinl.ini file. See Getting Started for more information.
Configuring a Windows NT 4.0 server to support
the DocuColor 40 CP
To configure a Windows NT 4.0 server to communicate with the DocuColor 40 CP,
follow these general steps. More detail is provided in subsequent sections.
• Load the TCP/IP network protocol (see the next section).
• Enter the host name of the DocuColor 40 CP in the host database used by your sys-
tem (see page 4-20).
• On the DocuColor 40 CP Control Panel, perform Server Setup (see page 2-8), Net-
work Setup (page 2-10), Printer Setup (page 2-36), PS Setup (page 2-37), and Color
Setup (page 2-39).
• On the Windows NT 4.0 server, create a printer for each DocuColor 40 CP queue,
install the appropriate printer drivers (if necessary) and (optionally) share the printer
on the network (see page 4-21).
• Enter the host name and remote printer name of the DocuColor 40 CP in the
printer connection. See page 4-26 for more information.
