Each line of the history shows the time that the call came in, the type of call (GR = group,
ID = Individual Call, E* = Emergency), the LID or unit ID of the caller, and the group the
call was received on. When an Individual call is received, the word "to" is replaced with
"->" to indicate that an Individual call was received on the talk group specified. When a
scanned call is detected, the unit ID is replaced with the name of the group on which the
call was made.
The Clear buttons shown in
and Unselect lists.
To remove the History display, press the EDACS Review button again.
To use the EDACS Review feature, an EDACS Review button must be defined in RDPS.
EDACS Aliases
EDACS aliases can be programmed in RDPS so that unit ID numbers are replaced with
text. The alias system works by looking for numerical digits in the radio's display and
attempting to match the digits to a programmed alias. If a match is found, the radio display
is replaced with the eight-character alias. This alias is also shown in the EDACS Call
History.
These same aliases could be programmed directly into the radio, but any changes or
additions would require the radio to be reprogrammed. When aliases are programmed in
RDPS, updates can be made without reprogramming the radio. If aliases are going to be
used when initiating individual calls, we recommend that the Special Call Names in the
radio be programmed to show "LIDnnnnn," where nnnnn is the unit ID to be called.
Otherwise, the software may not properly alias the ID.
For example, if you wanted the Special Call Menu items to include individual calls to unit
1005 (alias John) and unit 455 (alias Robert), you should edit the Special Call section as
follows:
Call
1
2
Then, when the dispatcher selects the Special Call Menu and scrolls through the list of
available special calls, "LID 1005" is replaced with "John" and "LID 455" is replaced
with "Robert".
Channel Status Region
In an EDACS channel window (refer to
shows the eight-character display generated by the EDACS radio. Following these eight
characters are two characters that indicate additional radio information. The "•" character
indicates that the currently displayed EDACS group is in the scan list. If the group is in the
scan list, the dot is displayed. If the group is not in the scan list, the dot does not appear.
