Problem Symptom
The Display is too dim.

Probable Cause
The Display Dimmer needs
changing.
The supply voltage is too low.

Corrective Action
Press [F], [DIM]. Turn the Tuning
control to select the desired
illumination.
The supply voltage requirement is
13.8 V DC + 15% (11.7 V to
15.8 V DC). If the input voltage is
outside this range, recharge your
battery or adjust your regulated
power supply.
No sound comes from the
speaker even though the
VOL control is turned
clockwise.
The squelch is closed.
DTSS is ON ("DT" is visible); DTSS
codes that you are receiving are
different from the code set in your
transceiver.
Page is ON ("P" is visible); Page
codes that you are receiving are
different from those set in your
transceiver.
If the TSU-8 CTCSS option is
installed, CTCSS is ON ("CT" is
visible); CTCSS tones that you are
receiving are different from the tone
frequency set in your transceiver.
Tone Alert is ON ("Bell" is visible).
Reset the squelch threshold.
To monitor activity, press
[F], [DTSS] twice to switch OFF the
DTSS function. To contact stations
using DTSS, review "DTSS".
To monitor activity, press
[F], [DTSS] to switch OFF the Page
function. To contact stations using
Page, review "Page".
To monitor activity, press [TONE] to
turn OFF the CTCSS function. To
contact stations, review "CTCSS".
Press [F], [T.ALT] to switch OFF the
Tone Alert function.
