Voltage Detection

4.1.1
SICAM FSI V2.0 B-Sensor senses the presence/absence of MV overhead line voltage. In case of a fault
condition, the voltage absence or presence is used to determine whether the fault is a temporary fault or
permanent fault.
Visual indication for voltage presence on a line will be seen only once when the device has been mounted on
the line after it has been magnetically reset. Magnetic reset can be done by touching the magnet adaptor to
the device transparent cover for approximately 1 s. The reset is to be done once the device is mounted on the
line or can also be done before mounting on the line.
NOTE
i
i
SICAM FSI uses capacitive coupling to detect presence/absence of line voltage and uses no galvanic connec-
tion to ground. Its accuracy depends upon variety of parameters.
It is certainly not suitable to determine whether an overhead line is dead.
NOTE
i
i
The voltage presence/absence detection mechanism uses various ways to reliably detect voltage in adverse
weather conditions.

Network Parameters

Rated Voltage
This refers to the rated voltage of the distribution network where SICAM FSI is installed. SICAM FSI adapts to
the rated MV overhead line voltage as per the Rated voltage (V
The rated voltage range includes the following: 6.6 kV, 11 kV, 12.5 kV, 13.8 kV, 22 kV, 25 kV, 33 kV, 34.5 kV,
44 kV, 45 kV, 66 kV and 69 kV.
Power Frequency
This refers to the frequency of the distribution network where SICAM FSI is installed. SICAM FSI operates on
the configured power frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
Current Measurement
SICAM FSI monitors the phase current continuously after it is mounted on the MV overhead line network. For
both frequencies 50 Hz and 60 Hz, the current measurement ranges from 0 A to 800 A with an accuracy of
±10 % or ± 5 A (whichever is greater). Current measurement accuracies are guaranteed within the continuous
carrying capacity of the overhead conductor.
NOTE
i
i
To meet the current measurment accuracy specifications, the respective cable diameter on which SICAM
FSIs are mounted must be configured in the device via SICAM FSI Configurator.
