ESS LEDs

The ESS card is equipped with LEDs that help the user diagnose the card and system troubles.

*The IDNet circuit on the ESS is electrically isolated and has its own earth fault detection circuit. The IDNet earth fault detection circuit
detects a 10 KOhms (or less) stray impedance to earth ground.
The ESS system trouble LED codes are indicated by LEDs A to E.

Table 11: ESS LED identification and definition
Status
On = IDNet negative terminal is connected to earth.*
On = IDNet positive terminal is connected to earth.*
Steady = No devices are detected.
Blink = Short circuit trouble.
On = Communication loss.
On = Class A/Open trouble.
On = Class B/Open trouble.
On = There is a fault on IDNAC SLC 1 circuit.
On = There is a fault on IDNAC SLC 2 circuit.
On = ESS is connected to the main AC power.
On = Communication with the FACU is lost.
These 5 LEDs are used to signal various trouble conditions on the ESS and
its SLC.
See Table 12 for the LED system codes.

D E Description:
OFF OFF No Trouble: There are no troubles detected on the system.
OFF OFF AC Fail: The AC power is disconnected but the battery is working.
OFF OFF Low Battery: The battery charge is under 22V.
Battery Cutout: The battery charge is below 20V. At this point if jumper P19 is set
OFF OFF
to "battery disconnect when depleted" the system will shut down.
Depleted/Missing Battery: If jumper P19 is not set to "battery disconnect
when depleted" this trouble will appear when the battery charge is below 20V.

This code will also appear if the system cannot detect the battery.
OFF OFF Charger Trouble: There is a trouble with the battery charger.
Card Overcurrent: The ESS module or another system card is drawing too much

current.
OFF OFF Negative Earth: The circuit is shorted to ground on the negative wire.
ON OFF Positive Earth: The circuit is shorted to ground on the positive wire.
City Circuit 1 Trouble: The trouble configured on the City Card's circuit one has

been triggered.
City Circuit 2 Trouble: The trouble configured on the City Card's circuit two has

been triggered.
AuxNAC Open: Depending on the chosen configuration, either the Aux circuit or

the NAC circuit is open.
AuxNAC Short: Depending on the chosen configuration, either the Aux circuit or
ON OFF
the NAC circuit is experiencing a short circuit.
AuxNAC Overcurrent: Depending on the chosen configuration, either the Aux
ON OFF
circuit or the NAC circuit is drawing too much current.
OFF ON Unassigned.
ON ON Unassigned.
