CONFIGURING THE CHARACTER GENERATOR FUNCTIONS
The HD9010TM-IRIG has eight independently positionable character windows to display the generator
and LTC, IRIG and ATC reader time and user bits. The SHAFT ENCODER knob in conjunction with
the HORZ and VERT keys control the position of the character windows.
ON/OFF key selects whether the video character generator (VCG) keyer is on or off. The use of these
keys in combination with the VCG CONTROL SELECT key selects which windows are displayed and
their position on the screen.
The VCG SETUP menu is used to configure the character style, and whether frames, fields and
symbols should be displayed in the character generator. The following descriptions appear in the order
they appear on the menu. The chart below shows the items available in the VCG SETUP menu.
Sections 3.6.1 to 3.6.5 give detailed information about each of the sub menus.

The IRIG RDR MODE menu item is used to select how the information
from the IRIG serial code reader is displayed.
Select IRIG mode irig day for normal operation. The IRIG time will be
placed into the time buffers and shown as a time value including
milliseconds. The day of the year information will be placed into the
user bits reader buffer and shown as a day value.
Select IRIG mode irig data for debugging applications. The raw IRIG
time and user bits will be both be displayed as numeric data.
Sets the Character generator character colour and background style
Turns the Character generator Time code Frames display on or off
Turns the Character generator Time code Fields display on or off
Turns the Character generator Window Symbols on or off
