Medium Voltage Magnetics enclosure (MVM)
This is the medium voltage section of the MV UPS that includes the coupling transformer and the line
reactor. The coupling transformer connects the low voltage power converters to the medium voltage
network. The isolating line reactor, which is a 50% impedance, isolates the coupler trans-former and the
load from the utility.
The magnetics are designed to be air cooled. The redundant fans (N+1) draw the air from the bottom of
the cabinet and then push the filtered pressurized air through the magnetics. The heated air is then
expelled from the top of the cabinet.
A control and monitoring module located in the MVM (shown in Figure 3.24, on the top right side) is
connected to the APS enclosure via an Ethernet communication cable. The module has the following
functions:
– Monitoring the temperature of the transformer windings
– Monitoring the inlet and exhaust air temperatures
– Controlling the speed of the fans
– Monitoring the correct operation of the fans
– Transmitting temperature and fan status information to the system controller

DC Termination enclosure (DCT)
The DC Termination enclosure houses the main earth termination busbar and the DC power termination
busbars for the MV UPS. The site earth and energy storage power cabling get terminated to these.
The DCT enclosure has gland plates at the top and bottom to allow for a choice of cable entry. The earth
busbar can accept M12 (1/2" equivalent) single or double-hole lugged cabling. The DC busbars can
accept M12 and M16 (1/2" and 5/8" equivalent), single or double-hole lugs.
All busbars in the DCT are designed with adequate spacing to allow back-to-back cable terminations.
