Responsibilities of the user
It is the responsibility of those in charge of the HiPerGuard MV UPS to ensure that each person involved
in the installation, operation or maintenance of the product has received the appropriate training and
has thoroughly read and clearly understood the instructions in this manual and the relevant safety
instructions.
Intended use of equipment
Those in charge of the HiPerGuard MV UPS shall ensure that the product is only used as specified in the
contractual documents, operated under the conditions stipulated in the technical specifications and on
the rating plate of the product, and serviced in the intervals as specified by ABB.
Use of the HiPerGuard MV UPS outside the scope of the specifications is not permitted and can lead to
malfunction or hazardous situations. Intended equipment use also implies that only spare parts
recommended and approved by ABB may be used. Unauthorized modifications and constructional
changes of the HiPerGuard MV UPS can cause malfunction and result in hazardous situations. Therefore,
such modifications are not permitted.
Quality certificates and applicable standards
The following certificates and conformity declarations are available from ABB:
– ISO 9001 certificates stating that ABB Ltd in Napier has implemented and maintains a management
system that fulfils the requirements of the normative standards.
– EC conformity declaration.
– List of the standards the MV UPS complies with:
IEC62040-3 VI SS 111.
IEC62477-2.
IEC61000-6-2.
WEEE.
IEC60076 (for the medium voltage magnetics).
Items covered by delivery
Delivery comprises the following items:
– HiPerGuard MV UPS low voltage Power Conversion Unit (PCU). This is a plinth with six enclosures
already installed and interwired. The six enclosures are: DCT enclosure, APS enclosure, Utility
enclosure, 3 x PE120 enclosures.
– HiPerGuard MV UPS Medium Voltage Magnetics (MVM) enclosure.
– Nuts, bolts, washers, brackets, plinth covers and other metalwork parts required to interconnect PCU
to MVM enclosure.
– Communications and fan power cables to interconnect PCU to MVM enclosure.
– Fiber cable to interconnect HiPerGuard MV UPS to Medium Voltage Switchgear enclosure.

Identifying the delivery
The HiPerGuard and accessories are identified by the type code printed on the rating label. The label
provides information on the HiPerGuard MV UPS rated voltage, frequency, rated current and auxiliary
power supply.
