PE120 enclosures
Each PE120 houses six PEBBs and the enclosures are designated PE120-1, PE120-2 and PE120-3. Below
the PEBBs in each cabinet, there is a control tray carrying the enclosure controller and associated
circuits.
The PE120-1 is the enclosure that houses the Graphical Display Module (GDM) and the System Controller
(SC) of the MV UPS. The other two enclosures (PE120-2 & PE120-3) have HUB controllers (HUB) to
transfer the information between the system controller and their PEBBs.

The control tray at the bottom of each PE120 enclosure may be swinging out to expose the AC and DC
power terminals. The DC power terminals are wired to the DCT enclosure prior to delivery. The AC power
terminals are wired to the MVM enclosure when the MV UPS is installed.

PCS120 Power Electronic Building Blocks
The HiPerGuard MV UPS has eighteen PEBBs. The Power Electronic Building Blocks are high efficiency
three-level bi-directional power electronics IGBT-based converters.
Each PEBB is rated at 250 kVA and includes a sine filter. The PEBBs are plug-in modules with automatic
smart firmware management and controlled via 2 x fiber optic cables and powered on by 24 Vdc
connection.
The power connections are at the rear of the modules and are connected to busbars at the rear of the
PE120 enclosures.
At the top-left front side of each PEBB, there are two LEDs. The first LED indicates that the 24 Vdc power
supply is present, and the second one flashes to indicate that the communications are active.
