3. Loosen muffler mounting bolts (1) (2 used) and U
bolt (3) to remove muffler (2).

2. Connect vacuum pump (1) to the port from which
the hydraulic oil tank cap is removed. Operate the
pump to hold negative air pressure in the hydraulic
oil tank.
NOTE: Keep the vacuum pump running while discon-
necting or connecting hoses.
The removal process, with the counterweight removed,
are explained in the following.Refer to the counterweight
section for the removal and installation.of the counter-
weight.
1. Loosen screws (1) (3 used) to remove cover (2)
from the top surface of the hydraulic oil tank.
Loosen cap (3) to release air from the hydraulic oil
tank. Remove cap (3).

CAUTION:
1. Escaping hydraulic fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin or eyes, causing serious in-
jury. Avoid this hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines.
2. Hydraulic oil and components may be hot just after operation. Hot hydraulic oil may spout,
possibly causing severe burns. Be sure to wait for hydraulic oil and component to cool be-
fore starting work.
