Genera l I nform a t ion:
Piping inst allat ion, m at erials, and j oining m et hods shall
conform to requirements of authority having jurisdiction or
in absence of such requirements:
• USA - Nat ional Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/ NFPA 54
• Ca na da - Nat ural Gas and Propane I nst allat ion Code,
CAN/CSA B149.1

• M a nufa ct urer requires a ll dom est ic hot w a t er
( DH W ) inst a lla t ions use a n a nt i- sca ld va lve.
Local codes may require additional equipment
( expansion t ank, relief valves, et c.) Select and
size equipment to suit installation and meet code
requirements.
• Use a wat er filt er on pot able incom ing wat er supply
line.
• Manufact urer recom m ends use of a m agnet ic dirt
separat or in t he hydronic syst em where t here are
cast iron or st eel com ponent s, or where t he previous
boiler was a cast iron heat exchanger. The abrasive,
ext rem ely fine sedim ent is difficult t o rem ove and can
deposit ont o heat exchanger surfaces and accum ulat e
in pum p cavit ies causing reduced efficiency and
prem at ure wear.
• I f t he piping m anifold is not used t he ASME
t em perat ure and pressure relief valve and
t em perat ure and pressure gauge shall be inst alled
to conform to requirements of the authority having
j urisdict ion. Refer t o appropriat e m anufact urer
instructions for installation requirements.
• I f t he piping m anifold is not used, a prim ary /
secondary piping arrangem ent is m anufact urer
required, unless using Buffer Tank. A maximum of
12 in of separat ion bet ween t he supply and ret urn
pipe ( closely spaced t ees) of t he boiler shall be
m aint ained. Lim it com bined supply and ret urn pipe
lengt hs t o m axim um linear lengt hs of 20 ft ( 6.1
m ) bet ween boiler and closely spaced t ees, when
m inim um ¾ in NPT pipe size is used. Linear lengt h
m ay be increased if supply and ret urn pipe size is
increased t o lim it pressure drop.
• Manufact urer recom m ends inst alling a shut off
and purge valve t o use during com m issioning t o
ensure t he boiler does not shut down due t o over
t em perat ure. Do not inst all shut off bet ween boiler
and LWCO or pressure relief valve.

washing, dish washing and ot her sanit izing needs
can scald and cause perm anent inj ury.
Children, elderly, and infirm ed or physically
handicapped persons are m ore likely t o be
perm anent ly inj ured by hot wat er. Never leave
t hem unat t ended in bat ht ub or shower. Never
allow sm all children t o use a hot wat er t ap or
draw t heir own bat h.
I f anyone using hot wat er in t he building fit s t he
above descript ion, or if st at e laws or local codes
require certain water temperatures at hot water
t aps, you m ust t ake special precaut ions:
• Use lowest possible t em perat ure set t ing.
• I nst all som e t ype of t em pering device, such
as an aut om at ic m ixing valve, at hot wat er
t ap or wat er heat er. Aut om at ic m ixing valve
m ust be select ed and inst alled according
t o m anufact urer's recom m endat ions and
inst ruct ions.
• Wat er passing out of drain valves m ay be
ext rem ely hot . To avoid inj ury:
