• Before operat ing sm ell all around appliance area for
gas. Be sure to smell next to floor because some
gas is heavier than air and will settle to the floor.
• Use only your hand to turn the gas shutoff
va lve. Never use t ools. I f valve will not t urn by
hand, do not try to repair it, call a qualified service
t echnician. Force or at t em pt ed repair m ay result in
fire or explosion.
• Do not use t his a pplia nce if a ny pa rt ha s been
under w a t er. Immediately call a qualified service
t echnician t o inspect appliance and t o replace any
part of cont rol syst em and any gas cont rol which
has been under wat er.

WHAT TO DO I F YOU SMELL GAS
• Do not t ry t o light any appliance.
• Do not t ouch any elect rical swit ch; do not use
any phone in your building.
• I m m ediat ely call your gas supplier from a
neighbor's phone. Follow t he gas supplier's
inst ruct ions.
• If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire
depart m ent .
1 0 .1 Test ing For Ga s Lea k s And Purging The Ga s
Supply
• With boiler gas service valve closed (spindle flats at right
angles t o valve) . Pressure t est gas supply and inlet pipe
work connect ion t o boiler gas service valve for soundness.
• Loosen screw of pressure inlet gas t est port on gas valve.
See figure 9-3 Gas Valve. Verify gas supply is ON. Open
boiler service valve t o purge.
• Ret ight en t est port screw and t est for gas leaks. Close
boiler gas service valve.

Dom est ic hot wat er supply always t akes priorit y over cent ral
heat ing.
Dem and for hot wat er required during cent ral heat ing period,
boiler aut om at ically swit ches t o hot wat er m ode unt il dem and
is satisfied i.e. storage water is to required temperature.
This int errupt ion in cent ral heat ing is only when dem and for
hot wat er is present and should not be not iced by t he User.

fan com es on at ignit ion speed, closing t he air pressure
swit ch if applicable m odel, allowing power t o spark
generat or and gas valve, creat ing ignit ion in t he
com bust ion cham ber.
Flame sensor acknowledges presence of flame in
com bust ion cham ber sending a signal t o t he cont rol board.
Aft er init ial st abilizat ion period t he cont rol board m onit ors
supply and ret urn t em perat ures and m odulat es fan speed
and gas rat e accordingly.
Once boiler satisfies CH call for heat, the unit will
shut down and ent er 3 m inut e ant i- cycling m ode. The
boiler pum p will operat e for 3 m inut es t o dissipat e any
residual heat .
I f t here is a subsequent CH call for heat , boiler will wait 3
m inut es t o operat e.
