Measuring the sludge level with metering plate and dipstick
1. The level metering plate is to be attached to the dipstick. Then lower the dipstick with the measuring
tape into the sludge trap until the plate rests on the sludge surface.
2. Measuring the distance between sludge level and top edge of underground pipe (distance a).
3. The sludge must be removed at the latest when its level has reached 75% (see Table 2).
4. Record the measurement results and other activities in the logbook (see Annex).
Note:
If the distance a cannot be read off directly at the height of the pipe's top edge, e.g.
because the EcoLoop Saphir has been installed too deeply, the distance can be meas-
ured from a fixed point like the ground surface. distance a = distance c – distance b.

Servicing the system

The whole collecting space in the system must be emptied with an extractor and afterwards refilled. The
system can then continue operating reliably. Please follow the procedure in the order given below. The
system should be serviced whenever possible in dry weather. The site must be secured in traffic areas.
