Filling the trench
Suitable equipment should be used to move the
system gently into the prepared pit.
Before introducing the backfill material into the ex-
cavation pit, the system is filled 1/3 with water.
Subsequently, the backfill material (round grain
gravel, max. grain size 8/16) is filled and com-
pacted layer by layer in max. 30 cm steps to the
top edge of the tank. No backfill material should
enter the system. The individual layers must be
properly compacted with a hand tamper. Be care-
ful to avoid damaging the system when compact-
ing the gravel. Mechanical compacting machines
must not be used under any circumstances. The
filling around the sides must be at least 500 mm
wide.
5.6
Positioning on a slope, embankment etc.
If the system is installed in the immediate prox-
imity (< 5 m) of a slope, mound or embankment
(greater than 5°), a statically calculated retaining
wall must be constructed to bear the pressure of
the soil. The wall must exceed the system dimen-
sions by at least 500 mm in all directions and
have a minimum distance of 1000 mm to the sys-
tem.
5.7
Groundwater and cohesive (non-water-permeable) soils (e.g. loam)
The system may only be installed in groundwa-
ter/stratum water up to the specific height shown
in the adjacent drawing.
Even if groundwater/standing groundwater is ex-
pected to rise only infrequently, drainage must be
installed.
If necessary, the drainage pipe must end in a ver-
tical DN 300 pipe in which a submersible pressure
pump is fitted to pump out the excess water. The
pump should be checked regularly.
The following earth coverings must be observed:
5 Installation and assembly
Suitable for pedestrian loading: 300 – 600 mm
Areas suitable for vehicle loading: min. 400 mm
