the missing degree of freedom if you intend to use the tracking data for 6DOF scenarios
nonetheless. Effectively the body axis (X, Y or Z) is aligned towards the corresponding
room axis (X, Y or Z), thereby minimizing the angle in between. If a
is chosen with a negative sign, the body axis (X, Y or Z) is aligned to the opposite room
axis (-X, -Y or -Z) respectively.
Please refer to chapter 9.3 on page 114 to set the central axis in the menu
Single
Markers.
Setting the 5DOF central axis in a VR setup with head tracking It general it is rec-
ommended to choose the
perpendicular to the tracked body axis most of the time. For example when using a target
for shutter glasses do not set the
rather use the vertical axis instead.

9.5.3.2 Coordinate system setting for type
The body is expected to consist of two connected 5DOF targets with a roughly perpen-
dicular and constant angle in between (refer to 9.18 d) on page 121). These are placed
on the two axes. The origin is placed at the intersection of the two 5DOF targets. The first
axis is assigned to the 5DOF target which includes the marker with the largest distance
to the origin. The other 5DOF target is placed in the plane created by the two axes.
A click-type torque wrench is one the most prominent members of this
class of bodies. Due to the engineering backlash and other high me-
chanical tolerances in these devices often times the resulting body
calibrations are error-prone.
Due to the L-shaped geometry in the case of 2x5DOF tracking the data
provided consists of complete 6DOF information. Therefore the data
is not affected by the 5DOF central axis chosen.

9.5.4 Body calibration progress

During the body calibration the current status is shown using a progress bar (see figure
9.20 on 125). Verify that all markers of the target are recognised properly.
