Attention! Never switch the engine on without installing an air filter. This would cause the engine to
wear out quickly.
1. Remove the wing nut and air filter cover. Take out the items and separate them. Carefully check
both items for damage or wear and replace as necessary.
2. Spongy element with a dry air filter (key 2, fig. 26): Clean in warm soapy water, wipe off and allow
to dry. Or clean with a non-aggressive detergent and allow to dry. With an oil-dry air filter, immerse
the sponge element in clean engine oil and squeeze well. The engine will smoke at startup if there
is too much sponge oil left.
3. Paper element (key 1, fig. 26): Push the element slightly several times on a hard surface to
remove the adhered dust or blow compressed air through the filter from the inside out. Never try to
wipe the sticky mass on the paper element. Wiping will insert the sticky mass into the filter and clog
the micropores.
