5 Preparing the product for use
INFORMATION
The E-MAG Active can only be operated with the intended 317B20 battery. It was developed especially for the E-
MAG Active. Both the receptacle and lock unit are designed to fit with the form of this battery.

Before putting the E-MAG Active into operation, read the instructions for the 317B20 battery and the 317L20 bat­
tery charger.
This section will describe how the E-MAG Active can be activated/deactivated and how it can be reactivated from
the energy-saving mode. The section also explains how the electronic system starts and which signals the system
emits during activation.
5.1 Charging the battery
INFORMATION
After charging, the E-MAG Active can be used for around 5,000 steps with one battery charge. Nevertheless,
charging the battery daily (ideally at night) is recommended.

The battery should always be removed when the orthosis is not in use.

Continuous charging of the battery

► Avoid uninterrupted charging for several days

Charging the battery with soiled or damaged contacts
Loss of battery functionality due to insufficient charging functionality
► Ensure that the contacts are always clean and free of grease
► Clean all electrical contacts of the battery regularly with a lint-free cloth
► Take care to avoid damaging the contacts with pointed or sharp objects
1) Insert one or two 317B20 batteries into the charger (see fig. 2). INFORMATION: The corresponding LED
lights up for each battery. The charging time for a discharged battery is 8-10 hours.
2) Take the battery out of the battery charger after charging.
