Clean and Replace Air Cleaner Element

If the air cleaner clogging lamp on the instrument panel is
lit, the element is clogged.
Clean or replace the element.
1. Disconnect the housing clip (2) of the pre-cleaner (1).
Detach the pre-cleaner from the housing (6).
2. Take out the pre-cleaner sub-assembly (3), primary
element (4) and secondary element (5).
3. For the primary element and secondary element,
remove mud and foreign objects.
Do not clean the elements by blowing with strong air.
Doing so may degrade filter performance.
4. Replace the elements with new ones, if they are
contaminated excessively or damaged.
5. Clean the inside of the pre-cleaner and pre-cleaner
sub-assembly.
6. Clean the inside of the housing. Re-assemble the
parts in the reverse order to disassembly.
7. Press the reset switch on the top of the dust indicator
(7) located in the rear of the housing.
• Be sure to stop the engine before cleaning or changing the air cleaner. If it is cleaned
or changed while the engine is running, dust is sucked in, causing engine damages.
• When removing the secondary element, be careful not to introduce particles and
foreign objects into the air cleaner pipe.
