System description

The Simrad CP60 is a cost-effective current profiler. It can measure current in up to 5
layers of current individually set by the user in the water column. The measurements
provided are the speed of the current and the NSWE direction. A backscatter display
for each channel is also present.
When purchased as a stand-alone system, you need a computer and a monitor in addition
to a transceiver and a transducer to use the Simrad CP60. The transducer is 200 kHz,
which gives a deep-enough range for most purse seines. The CP60 system can also be
integrated into the ES80 with its own tab and pop-up window.
The current data provided by the CP60 system can be exported to other equipment.
Although the system is especially designed for exporting to Simrad sonars, its standard
NMEA current telegram makes it possible to interface it with other products.
In addition to the current measurements, the CP60 system also has a built-in single
beam echosounder. The beam has an opening angle of 27°, which makes it ideal for fish
detection high up in the water column, i.e. before setting the purse seine or in similar
scenarios.
